Disaster Response

  • In the aftermath of a disaster, whether natural or violent, it has become abundantly clear that Federal response will be inadequate and State response is too often dependent on which communities are deemed worth the trouble of supporting. We know that FEMA is not reliable, and that they are committed to building inhumane camps for Hispanic People, no longer prioritizing Emergency Management.

Our future in renewable energy is being dismantled and sold for parts to a handful of well-paying oil companies. Not only are the increasing extreme weather events going to continue to devastate communities, but our grid is becoming increasingly drained by the 24/7 datacenters which are rising like weeds.

There are 4,000 counties in this country. The Federal Government should provide each individual county with incentives to create mutual aid agreements with each one of its adjacent counties. After a community is wounded or evacuating, every county touching them should be ready to have their ISD’s provide transportation, have temporary housing plans, food supply plans, showers, internet and medical treatment, communication, trauma assistance, property appraisal, assistance with post-disaster recovery programs, and all other reasonably expected resources for victims of disasters. FEMA, 20 years after the failures of Hurricane Katrina, continues to fail disaster after disaster.

    We protect Us.
